Some people claim that the need for religion is diminishing in our time. Is it true and what can be a possible reason for that?
To begin with many people simply dont have time to think about things which are not strictly connected with their everyday lives . We feel the need for earning money to assure our families a proper standard of life.
Secondly, it can be observed that different things and ideas are becoming a religion in our time. This can be the result of the race for money. On the other hand not only the money had become our new religion, but also knowledge and technology.
Our society believe in the power of education. Knowledge replaces the faith in the God. We like to think we are self-reliant and able to describe the world without anyones help. However, the events after John Paul II death showed that we still feel the need to have someone who will show us how to behave and will support us in hard times.
To conclude, I think that although the need for religion is diminishing and our society becomes more and more secular, there sill still be people for whom faith is the most important thing.
